Iluminar el ojo

La tecnología LED es compatible con la cirugía oftalmológica.

Actualmente, se utilizan fibras de luz conectadas a fuentes de luz externas para iluminar la cámara posterior del ojo.

El control de la intensidad de la luz que llega a la retina, la distancia a la retina, así como el tiempo de exposición a la luz no es posible actualmente utilizando estas fibras.

Los enfoques novedosos que utilizan fuentes de luz especialmente diseñadas dentro del ojo son muy prometedores. Además, se está estudiando la interacción de la iluminación con los tejidos y los líquidos oftálmicos.
